Frequently Asked Questions

No - we give specific one-hour slots in which we aim to arrive.  We are nearly always on time, but sometimes (particularly towards the end of the day) we might be a bit behind schedule.  However, we will always call you well in advance to let you know our revised estimated arrival time.

Yes, but use caution when going from damp carpeting onto non-carpeted areas as the non-carpeted area may feel very slippery.

While it depends on so many factors, primarily the amount of carpet, we can indicate on the initial visit how long the job will take.  In the case of a typical 3 bedroom house, you should allow around 2.5 - 3 hours for all the carpets to be cleaned.

A tidy, uncluttered area allows us to complete the job more efficiently and in good time which in turn saves you money.  Please clear away where possible small items such as plants and light furnishings, children's and pet's toys, etc.  You don't need to more heavy items of furniture.  We carefully move all reasonable furniture and put it back in place.  However, we do ask that you remove all breakables such as lamps, knickknacks, photo frames etc..

Drying time depends on some variables such as the thickness of pile and fibers, the weather conditions and the air circulation in your home.  To help your carpet dry faster turn your thermostat up during the cold season or open windows during the warm season.  Turning on ceiling fans will also help your carpet dry faster.  Most carpeting is dry within 4 - 8 hours.

Pet stains and odors are best handled by a professional cleaner and restorer.  Attempting to remove them yourself can result in a permanent stain and/or odor.

You should have all your carpeting cleaned at least once a year.

Depending on your particular lifestyle (lots of entertaining, active children, pets, etc.) heavy traffic areas should be cleaned every 6-8 months.

Tracked-in dirt and soil gets deep into carpet and upholstery fibers.  There it begins to act line sandpaper, causing wear and unsightly traffic areas.  Topical cleaning only removes loose soil from the top third of fibers.  Our extraction cleaning process loosens and lifts ground-in dirt and soil, removing deep dirt in carpet and upholstery fibers.

The following suggestions may be used as a guideline:

Non-smoking household:  Every 6 - 12 months

Smoking household:  Every 4 months

Household with young children:  Every 6 months

Household with pets:   Every 3 - 6 months

Commercial office:  Every 6 months

Restaurant / Pub (where food is served):  Every month

Professional truck mounts have more power and deter re-soiling for a longer period of time.  Do-it yourself machines can 'over' wet the carpet and leave high amounts of detergent behind.

A cleaning agent is sprayed under pressure onto a surface to be cleaned and then (or simultaneously) vacuuming the resulting dirty water.  By spraying under pressure the cleaning agent (shampoo or steam) gets deep into the pile of carpets and helps dislodge dirt.
